On Luminosity
My youthful meditation on process and devotion to subject that matters. It describes the pictorial considerations I came to cherish if my prints were to transcend photography’s veracity and verisimilitude, let alone the ‘democracy of its lens’. I’m still surprised at my coherence at such a formative time and my insistence on photography in the service of other concerns that soon came to encompass an overt political and cultural conscience. If process can also be biography, and immanent desires be revelations, then perhaps On Luminosity can be something more than its parts, and continue as one of my many guiding lights.
